Biography
I live and work in a small river hamlet known as Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. I am a website designer, entrepreneur, and professional (retired) musician, and finally a photographer! While in high school I took a photography class and fell in love with the art form. But music took precedence and although I thoroughly enjoyed my 20+ year career in music, I still dabbled in photography whenever I got the chance. Basically, I just couln't give it up.
Music took me to Nashville and then ultimately Los Angeles, where I spent 18 years. As the years passed and music styles changed, I found myself less and less interested in music and more and more into computers. Layout and design on the computer was a cinch to learn and I started my own design business for print media. The Internet came along soon after and my work easily segued into" cyberspace" in the mid-90's.
After so many years of living in an overcrowded, expensive, and super polluted city, I grew weary of Los Angeles. That this revelation also coincided with my 50th birthday is no surprise. Turning 50 forced me to look at life -- by the numbers. It was simple math! I had already lived longer than I probably will. And all those hopes and dreams that had been assigned to that nebulous "someday" limbo, all of a sudden came to light. The future is NOW!!!
There were at least two things left to do that had been stuck in limbo: seeing more of my family in West Virginia (where I am originally from), and of course, photography.
While looking for country estates, I found Rabbit Hash on the Internet which is about a four hours west of my home town. I fell in love with the place (the mayor is a DOG -- really as in canine) and moved lock, stock and barrel to Rabbit Hash in 2005.
Turns out Rabbit Hash is a photographer's DREAM.
Whereas my digital "point and shoot" was sufficient for the low resolution demands of websites, I knew that I now needed much more in a camera. After a great deal of research, I finally decided on the Nikon D200 digital SLR camera and I am amazed every day of what it can do. Composition is my strong point but I am also a technology geek. So even though learning all about digital SLR's is still in the works, I'm gaining ground every day! I have not let it stop me from shooting. I take my camera with me everywhere I go.
