Linda Stonestreet Biography

PDF Print Email

Linda Stonestreet, Painter and Sketch ArtistI am a native of West Virginia, born and raised in St. Albans, and currently residing in Hurricane.  I graduated from Charleston Catholic High School in 1971 and Morris Harvey College (now University of Charleston) in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in English.  After some years I returned to school for my Master's Degree in English from Marshall University.

The last 26 years have been spent raising my children (3 sons) and running the small business that I started with my husband in 1981.  Now, with 10 employees to ease the workload, I can devote time to what was my first love way back in high school - Art.  Though I didn't get a degree in Art, I always worked at it on my own.  Then, in 2004 I was able to take personal classes from a local artist, Susann Cole.  Now I not only had the love and the artistic vision but I also had the tools and techniques I needed to create both abstract and realistic paintings.  I have also become a member of Allied Artists of West Virginia.

My studio is a little unorthodox.  I paint in various locations in my home.  There are large windows for abundant natural light, a high ceiling, and a hard wood floor.  Since we live on the top of a mountain surrounded by woods, the view is breathtaking.  And since we consistently put out food for birds and deer, the parade of wildlife is never ending.
